During the Imran Khan era, Pak-Iran & Pak-Afghan Barter Trade Agreements, and Pak-Russia Barter Trade Proposal were also aimed at freeing the Pakistani economy from the USD hegemony.

Dr. Muhammad Asim said during his lecture with research associates in the workshop on political economy organized by Rahmat and Maryam Researches Islamabad that “the prime motives of Pak-Iran & Pak-Afghan Barter Trade Agreements on February 24, 2022, and Imran Khan’s visit to Moscow on February 23-24, 2022 were only to wipe out the HSD hegemonic influence from Pakistan’s economy through barter trade. Similarly, these initiatives would become a cause of making the Pakistani economy free from the impact of pro-West institutions or forums like FATF.

He also says that “it is clear as day that the US never tolerates any attempt to disturb a dollar-based economy, whether Iraq or Libya, where regimes were changed only when Saddam switched Iraqi economy in Euros instead of US dollars while Muammar Gaddafi decided to trade in gold instead of US dollars. Even now, political economists are examining the political change in Pakistan within the context of Imran Khan’s barter trade policy. Hence, they are considering this model as the only solution to get rid of inflation”.

He further says that “the current Afghan government is also following the same model of Imran Khan against the international sanctions, and has controlled inflation. This time, the Afghan government is providing all possible relief to the Afghan people with the help of Russia and Iran.
